Frequently Asked Questions
-
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that uses relaxation, focused attention, guided visualisation, suggestion work and calming techniques to support the changes you would like to make.
You remain in control throughout the session. Hypnotherapy is not about being unconscious or handing control over to someone else. It is a collaborative process where we work together at a pace that feels safe, respectful and supportive.
-
Most people experience hypnotherapy as a calm, peaceful, meditative state. You remain aware and in control the entire time.
-
Hypnotherapy may support people who experience anxiety, overthinking, stress or emotional overwhelm by helping the mind and body practise calmer, steadier responses.
Sessions may include grounding, calming anchors, breathing techniques, guided visualisation, personalised suggestions and recordings to listen to between sessions.
-
I support clients with:
anxiety, stress and overthinking
confidence and self-trust
fears and phobias
sleep and relaxation
healthy habits
life transitions
grief and emotional adjustment
athletic performance and race day preparation
emotional regulation and feeling more grounded
Every person’s experience is different, and hypnotherapy does not guarantee a specific outcome.

Yes. The first step is a free consultation call.
This gives us a chance to talk about what you would like support with, answer any questions, and see whether hypnotherapy feels like the right fit for you.
There is no pressure to book. It is simply a gentle starting point.

New clients begin with the 6-session Rooted Calm Hypnotherapy Package.
This gives us time to understand what is happening for you, create a personalised approach, build safety, and develop practical tools you can return to beyond the sessions themselves.
Single follow-up sessions are available for existing clients who have already worked with me.
-
Hypnotherapy works best when there is time to understand your needs, create trust, build a supportive foundation, and practise the tools between sessions.
The 6-session package allows us to work in a more structured and personalised way, rather than trying to rush change in one session.
Your first session includes your initial consultation and first hypnotherapy session.
-
Yes. Online sessions are available and just as effective as in person. All you need is a quiet, comfortable space.
-
Some people notice shifts quite quickly. Others need more time and repetition.
Both are valid. The aim is not to rush your system into change, but to support it in a way that feels realistic, safe and sustainable.

Hypnotherapy is not about being “fixed” by someone else.
It is a collaborative process. My role is to guide, support and create personalised sessions and recordings. Your role is to engage with the process, listen to your recordings, practise the tools and stay open to change happening gradually.
Hypnotherapy works best when we work together.
-
Yes, I strongly recommend listening to your recordings between sessions.
The recordings help reinforce the work we do together. They allow your mind and body to return to the calming imagery, suggestions, anchors, and emotional experience of the session.
-
This depends on you and what we are working on, but many clients find it helpful to listen once a day or several times a week.
The aim is not to turn it into another pressure or task. The aim is to create repetition and familiarity in a gentle, realistic way.
-
I use plants and natural imagery because Rooted Calm is built around the feeling of slowing down, feeling grounded, and reconnecting with yourself.
Research suggests that viewing nature, plants, and natural scenes can support relaxation, stress recovery, and a calmer nervous system response. Visual exposure to nature has been linked with more relaxed physiological responses compared with non-natural settings, and indoor plants have also been explored for their potential wellbeing benefits.
For me, plants also represent something important about therapeutic work: growth, patience, care, and change that happens gradually.
They are a quiet reminder that you do not need to force yourself to bloom. You need the right conditions, steady support, and time.

-
You do not need to relax perfectly for hypnotherapy to be helpful.
Some people feel deeply relaxed. Some remain more aware. Some notice thoughts coming and going. There is no perfect way to experience hypnosis.
-
Hypnotherapy may support athletic performance by helping you work with race day nerves, confidence, focus, mental rehearsal and pressure.
As an endurance runner and coach, I also support athletes with race day mindset, start-line calm, visualisation and personalised recordings for meaningful events.
-
Hypnotherapy may support healthy habits by helping you understand patterns, build self-trust and practise a more supportive internal response.
This may include habits around food, movement, rest, routines or self-care. The focus is not shame, pressure or perfection. It is about creating change in a mindful and sustainable way.

For online sessions, the following cancellation policy applies:
48+ hours’ notice: You may cancel or reschedule without charge.

0–24 hours’ notice or no-show: The full session fee is payable, or the session will be counted as used within your package.
-
For in-person sessions, I book the therapy room/venue in advance.
The venue requires 4 weeks’ notice for cancellations or changes. This means that if you cancel or reschedule an in-person session with less than 4 weeks’ notice, and I am unable to cancel or recover the room hire cost, a non-refundable venue cost of £25 will apply.
For in-person sessions:
4+ weeks’ notice: You may cancel or reschedule without charge.
48 hours–4 weeks’ notice: You may cancel or reschedule without paying the session fee, but a £25 non-refundable venue cost will apply if the room booking cannot be cancelled or refunded.
24–48 hours’ notice: 50% of the session fee is payable, or 50% of that session may be deducted from your package. A £25 non-refundable venue cost will also apply if the room booking cannot be cancelled or refunded.
0–24 hours’ notice or no-show: The full session fee is payable, or the session will be counted as used within your package. A £25 non-refundable venue cost will also apply if the room booking cannot be cancelled or refunded.

If you arrive late, either online or in person, the session will still end at the scheduled time. This ensures the smooth running of all appointments.
If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, the session may be cancelled and charged in full, or counted as used within your package. This is because the remaining time would not allow us to work in a meaningful or therapeutic way.
